Just a few lines relating to the war in Iraq and why people 
have the anti feelings that they do towards America....
I spent some time over in the middle east (mainly Egypt...), 
some 4 years so I got to hear the other side of this war and 
not just from newspapers/media as it seems most people who have 
written any half inteligent comments here seem to have had.I 
got to meet many different people from the arab world and I 
apologise to say that many of them don't see America as some 
sort of saviour or freedom maker as they make out to be.There 
are a lot of anti sentiments through out the middle east. I get 
the impression that people see America as an oppressing nation 
who only sees its own interests at heart.I got the impression 
that it is all about control both economic and otherwise, not 
just about oil as some people argue. Indeed when you think 
about it they have their foot in almost every arab nation, the 
only one that they do not as of yet is Iran but I am sure that 
will be next.Many people over there feel contempt because of 
this.I am not saying that Sadams regime was not horrible, 
indeed crimes were performed on the Iraqi people. However, 
every time a civilian is killed it pushes anti American 
feelings only further. The average person in Egypt for example, 
if  anything is mentioned about America or their policies will 
only respond with anger and negative comments. I have had some 
really nasty fights over the smallest things when anything to 
do with America was mentioned.The background for such feelings 
emerged some years ago with the problems between Israel and 
Palestine.Those feeling have escallated in the last couple of 
years with what has been seen as a david and galioth struggle 
between the two.Anti- American feelings come from what paople 
perceive as America apparently siding with the Israeli 
government all the while doing nothing constructive to try to 
resolve the issues they have. Before I hear about terrorists 
and suicide bombings some people tend to forget that such 
products only come as a result of desperation from the 
Palestinian people who have been forced off their land in the 
first place and if they try to resist are removed forcefully by 
a powerful army (the second most powerful in the world as it 
seems or so I have heard...). Many of their people have been 
killed as a result and as they are the weaker side and 
extremely desperate with nothing much else to loose letting 
forth a suicide bomber seems the only way. I know it isn't the 
way but that is how some feel. I have met people fr0om 
palestine but I also have friends from Israel so no one should 
badmouth me as not knowing anything. Anyway such anti-
sentiments started from this and anything else like the isues 
with Afganisitan and Iraq only fuel that fire.Unfortunately 
terrorism is the end product of this.
Anyway this is my opinion from the experiences I have had 
through living there and seeing things first hand. My opinions 
are serious and are not meant to insult anyone it is just the 
way that I have seen things and why people have the feelings 
that they do, especially in the middle east. I am not from the 
middle east originally, I originally hail from Norway. 
I hope that everyone is mature enough to understand this this 
letter and not start name calling/insulting me for it. I think 
a serious letter would be nice for a change.

First I want to say FINALLY! Some intelligent conversation!

into yet another war, that we would never see that happen to

looking at what Hitler had done to those people! Kind of like 
Saddam, and his own people, mass graves (Similar), beating of 
athletes that didnt win in the Olympics and eventually 
torturing them to death. Using the (So called) Non existent 
WMD's of biological/chemical weapons that he said he had in 
1998, that he has no proof of destroying ANYWHERE, that he used 
on his own people, the Kurds. You know the rest of the story. 
I can also understand the Palestinian issue, they  deffinately 
need a country they can call PALESTINE! But, the actions they 
are taking to make this happen are non-excusible. I believe 
everyone has the right to exist, unless they are trying to kill 
us/you, or putting ours/your Country at risk of further, 
possibly more evil terrorist actions. Ok they got our 
attention, but they have always had it also. Working on a plan 
for the two of them (Israel and Palestine) to live together in 
Harmony and peace has been difficult to say the least, and the 
US will not bargain with, nor listen to any form of terrorism. 
The terrorists need to change thier ways, which would be hard 
if that's all they grew up knowing also. Thus Stalemate!  
I believe they can be heard, and seen without blowing people 
up! Those that reguard us as people that do not want peace and 
only personnel gain are sadly misguided, and probably 
conditioned to believe that! In the 200+ years this Country has 
been here we have tried to create nothing but Peace! Made up of 
ALL Ethnic groups, All Religions, Contrary to popular belief. 
Some people want it, some people dont, and some people think 
they need to be radical to prove thier point. Well being 
radical does not work with American's. If they can put down 
thier explosives long enough to let a well made peace plan take 
place, they will find American's will help them in every way 
possible, there for a bit American's thought there was a BIG 
chance for them to obtain peace, and live side by side until 
yet another terrorist attack. If they continue with the 
terrorist attacks No-One is going to take them seriously, and 
only wind up classifying them as a Terrorist Orginazation. 
Which will put them on the back burner forever. Obviously they 
want our help, because they keep asking for it. And I'm sure we 
would give them as much as Israel if they wouldnt use terrorist 
tactics! It doesnt work. It just makes them look like "Just 
another terrorist organization". And will wind up being 
classified just that, unless they TALK and change thier 
tactics! I work next to some Iraqi's that escaped Saddam's 
regime in the early 90's, that's where I hear alot of opinions 
on this matter, not the TV, or Newspapers. Which I read them 
also, but I'm never quite sure what I'm reading is "Not wanting 
us to Panic" stuff. The Iraqi people that I talk to are 
positive we have done the correct thing, they say we have 
prevented another Hitler, and swear Saddam has, and has hidden 
the WMD in Syria and Lebanon! Now I dont know for sure where 
they are getting thier information, I do know they still have a 
few family members left in Iraq that werent killed by Saddam 
and his regime, however some have been, so I'm inclined to 
believe them over anybody! They seem to know first hand the 
brutality of the regime and know they were a DEFFINATE threat 
to the United States of America. One of them said "Saddam was 
so obsessed with aquiring Weapons" to target American's he paid 
millions for these weapons, bio-chem, etc.., From all kinds of 
Countries!  Now in your statement you said "People over there

American that without wanting to solve THIER problems"! Is that 
not contradictory of another statement you made 
reguarding "They dont feel American's are some form of Savior

his people in line" So to speak, by scaring the shit out of 
them, knowing he may bust out his arsenal, and use them on them

having them, and proved it by using them on his own people, I

That war was not only RIGHT in EVERY sense of the word, but 
between all the Countries involved (We cannot take full credit) 
they eliminated another HITLER! And yes that's exactly what he 
was. The oil production, and electricity were pretty damn close 
to the capacity it was pre-war, until what's left of the 'Ol 
Saddam loyalists decided we were making great progress there, 
and decided to blow up bridges, oil production plant's, a main 
Electricity production facility, etc...which set us back a bit. 
But wont set us back for long. (Saddam really cared about those 
people eh?) This is also the fastest rebuilding of a Nation 
after a "Change in Regime" ever recorded in History! If it 
wasnt for the precision guided weaponry we and the coalition 
forces used to limit the damage and casualties, the situation 
would be alot worse. Hitting the ground as fast as we did was 
brilliant to say the least, leaving Saddam with not alot of 
options as how he could destroy his people even further by 
leaving them nothing if he possibly could. Some more of these 
attacks on thier own infastructure, and people, and they (The 
Iraqi's) are going to finally say "Hey wait a minute, I'm 
getting sick of this shit). And start going after those guilty 
themselves. Which would be a very good thing for us and the 
coalition. Which I am feeling is going to start happening soon 
anyway.

While we are on the subject of "More or Less of them" (The 
Terrorists), you have to admit that they are not operating with 
the freedom they had to move around, communicate with each 
other (Except in Person), Get ahold to thier money as easily as 
they used to, and quite a large number of them are either in 
Gitmo, or dead. Something like 2/3's? I think that's a 
tremendous number for a war that has been going on since only 9-
11! Considering the fact that we have stopped the flow of alot 
of thier money to them, have voice recognition throughout the 
satelite, telecommunications, and Internet route, civilians and 
intelligence turning them in at a fast pace making it possible 
to capture and or kill them, getting more intelligence from 
those that have been captured and interigated (And no I dont 
give a damn how they are interigating them) etc...I think we 
and the coalition have made tremendous progress in the "War on 
Terror" in such a short period of time. I havent read the 
article you posted up there yet, but again I will have to 
disagree, I think we have MORE people helping us and the 
coalition since 9-11 simply because they are getting sick of 
this shit too, and feel they might be next, or comming up soon. 
And without America, Britain, and the more than 26 countries 
involved so far, who are the "Little Countries" going to scream 
to for help if they are left vulnerable for an attack, and have 
one? The World isnt going to settle for the destruction of

Canada, Poland, Holland, The Netherlands, etc.. They would have

Ok, shortly after we were "In Country", why it wasnt highly 
publicized I dont know, but we found literaly in the first week 
or two an Al-Queda training camp not to far from the 
infamous "Mural" depicting the first plane to hit World Trade 
Center One. I dont remember what town this was, Now this I know 
for sure because some of the War footage I couldnt watch at 
work so I recorded it to see when I got home. And I still have 
it. Needless to say I myself was shocked when I saw it, and 
started questioning after several days why it wasnt publicized 
MORE! There was no way to hide it or cover it up, because of 
the embedded reporter's. 
Saddam Hussien (May the piss of Allah lay upon him) 
was "Terrorist Haven". There was all kinds of goings on over 
there in the way of Terrorist activities. Some may not be 
proven YET, but it will be eventually. One thing that has been 
proven was he paid Palestinian Families for thier son's or 
daughter's to commit homicide bombings in Israel! Leaving 
behind video tapes of thier last words, and how Saddam's money 
would help thier families and so forth. And these parents were 
actually PROUD of this. Now, seeing the training camp, 
the "Mural", and there have been phone records PROVEN between 
Saddam, and Bin Laden. Hell they were comunicating through our 
own satelite's. There are some other things that I have 
forgotten but the proof is there. That one just happens to 
stick in my mind.
The reason I say we are now fighting for our right to "Exist" 
is because there are people that want to kill us, wipe us off 
the face of the earth, totally destroy us. Setting aside the 
(Iraq is free, we and the coalition helped them) and all that, 
there was more going on over in Iraq than just wanting to 
destroy the United States, the man was turning into another 
Hitler, (Or had already) and his sons were no better, and were 
helping him. He had what every terrorist wanted, weapons, of 
all different kinds, ADMITTEDLY. Dont forget he admitted he had 
these weapons back in 1998! That's why there was a UN 
Resolution 1441. That at the time EVERY Country in the UN voted 
for. Which states very clearly "Force will be used if he does 
not dissarm". (Which for thier own personal gain, or whatever 
reasons, probably money and embarassment, and the fact that 
some of the weapons we have found so far bare the markings of 
France, Germany, and Russia, backed out on the use of force 
portion).  
He was a "Walmart" for every terrorist's shopping needs. And 
God help us if he did get to arm any of those bastards, which I 
think he did when he threw out the weapons inspectors in 1998!
Considering all that, I think it's safe to say we ARE fighting 
for our right to exist! It was only a matter of time before 
Saddam took action against us, he wouldnt have done it "On his 
own" so to speak, the little rodent would have paid, or given 
money, weapons, whatever the terrorist's wanted to commit the 
attacks. Knowing full well his hands were dirty, yet taking no 
responsability! Thus Al-Queda! And Bush didnt start 
this "Mess", dont forget we were the ones who got attacked! And 
any sitting President (With any balls) would have done the 
exact same thing!

Not to mention, when we would move in on a base of operations, 
left abandoned (If you could call it that, a hole in the ground 
with a few surface to air missles, RPG's, Guns etc..) and 
GASMASKS found at these sites, is more than enough proof that 
his own soldiers knew what he might be ready to let lose! I 
mean that was obvious. We moved in so quickly, I mean I can 
picture those Iraqi soldiers <~(Joke), running and yelling "Oh 
holy shit I left my gas mask!". We had them on the run, kept 
them on the run, Saddam too, he didnt have the time to use the 
bio-chem weapons on us. (Brilliant plan I might add) Not to 
mention the fact that the major stockpile was a bit hard to 
reach in Syria and Lebanon. Oh they are there alright, still 
covered, but they are there. The vast majority is in Syria and 
Lebanon. Those local yokles arent firing at our troops just 
because they want to, they are protecting something!!!! When 
all is said and done there, which may still take a long time, 
you will see that either by us or the coalition, they will be 
uncovered. Even if we have to march into Syria and Lebanon to 
get them! This also should put an end to the folks that say "We 
planted them" However I doubt it, when they are uncovered, I 
bet that's the first thing the anti-everything about this, 
people will say. I know I feel alot safer without Saddam in 
power, his money pretty much cut off, and his country ransaked 
by the US and coalition forces. That breeding ground for 
terrorist's is GONE! Sooner or later they all will be. Like 
this guy said on the news this morning, let them all come out, 
(The terrorist's) that way we can keep an eye on them and kill 
them all faster!

superior to any other in the middle east in terms of fighting 
ability and technology. Why then weren't they able to destroy 
the convoys going into neighboring countries, or at least track 
those convoys through satellite surveilance? Let's not forget

agent...29,984 prohibited munitions." (Also from 2003 SOU 
speech) Moving that much of anything is no small task; moving 
that much highly dangerous material is an even larger task. It 
isnt going to be moved in the back of a couple of vans and 
pickups. In all likelyhood the Iraqis didn't have the capability 
to transport it. So there you go folks, Bush tried to get people 
to believe that there were huge warehouses filled to the ceiling 
with WMDs. Unfortunately, some Americans bit on it, and went 
crazy demanding justice before the evidence was brought to the 
table. Here we are now months later, inspectors can find no 
evidence.

September 11, 2001. However, such things are at least partially
the result of US government intervention in foreign affairs when
they are not wanted. Don't let them take your lives for their

Nothing is the result of anything partially or in whole due to

EVER!!! Unless asked, or unless it has been a direct threat to 
the United States of America! If people/governments are a 
direct threat to the security of this Nation, they WILL be delt 
with. We are a Freedom Loving Country! And we will do or take 
the precautions neccessary to acheive that! Be it in Iraq, or 
some other Country that threatens our peace and stablility!  
Dont kid yourself, If The Governments of Other Countries ask 
for our help, 90% of the time we give it!! The United States of 
America, gives more food, medicine, money, humanitarin aid, 
protection, etc,...More than ANY other Country. Now I'm not 
saying the rest of the world doesnt contribute, but they sure 
as hell do NOT contribute as much as the United States! Since 
we ARE FREE, There are those (Terrorists) mainly that want to 
see us Destroyed! Well it isnt going to happen! The AMERICAN 
people will see to that ourselves! The right to keep and bare 
Arms is a useful tool for us when we are at war or peacetime 
for that matter. It insures us the right to "Get rid of" Those 
that want to harm us, or destroy us! Our government and it's 
forein affairs policy, is NOT what bothers us, the fact

And by GOD the Majority of the American people would LOVE to 
meet them face to face, not in a cave, or a sandhole, etc.. but 
if they want to come here, they will meet the American's who 
dont get to get on the Armed forces list! (Our Excellent 
Military) They will meet us HEAD ON!!! I'm going on and on I 
know so to make this shorter, the only ones we need to hold

he had the capability to build all those palaces (With our "Oil 
For Food" program money I might add) transport the weapons

You forgot the word YET! If ALL if the intelligence from ALL 
the sources told Bush we were going to be attacked at 8:40 ET

he DOES get the intelligence about Saddam, not to mention the

and still gets it by his own people. He is damned if he does,

Palestine! It's a damn shame that they cant share the holy 
parts that would border on both countries, but that looks 
impossible with what has turned into a land full of terrorists

time one of those homicide bombers pulls one of thier episodes

have quite a knack for "Hitting thier targets",  I mean fly 
over in a helicopter gunship (How they know who is in the car I 
have no idea) and get a direct hit on a Hamas leader in his car 
for instance! Then the Palestinians call a cease fire (Well 
Hamas, or Islamic Jihad etc..)for 2 months, which lasted all of 
about 2 weeks, everything was calm, then boom, another homicide 
attack. I truly dont know what is going to take them down the 
path to peace. We can try to help, but that is about all we can 
do. Actually even the Bush administration didnt like that idea, 
I thought building a wall, fence, whatever to keep the 
terrorist's out was a pretty good idea. I still think that is a 
good idea at least temporarily in Iraq! That would be one huge 
fence lol..checkpoints, the whole works! Dissarm everybody till 
all the crap calms down, and they have an established 
government there. But back to Isreal and Palestine, I'm 
inclined to agree with Om/Cf on this, until the terrorists are 
gone, send them packing until they learn how to act like decent 
civilized humans. I dont see anything in the way of peace 
happening there until then. I sure dont know what else to do.

I dont see how you can take "An update on the war on terror" 
and turn it into an apology session to those who have a vested 
interest in what goes on in Iraq. That is of course if they 
want no part of any trade, or oil, or money making opportunity 
with a new Iraq! Which they will be the ones left behind if 
they dont. Someday in the next couple of years we will have 
trade going from America to Iraq, and back and fourth, and 
Britain, and the other 30 countries. But like the Iraqi person 
said above, they arent going to forget who saved and helped 
rebuild them. As well as saving our own asses. But hey Bush was 
kind enough to give them an opportunity to jump on the "Lets 
all get together and help" bandwagon, it's up to them if they 
blow it! It may not look like it to you, but there is going to 
be a time when there will be alot of money to be made by 
exchanging goods and services with Iraq. It wont happen 
overnight but it will happen. And if Germany, France, etc.. 
dont want to get involved well it's thier loss. They will be 
the ones sitting back and saying "Well shit maybe we should 
have", but by then it will be to late! As for

your right, Bush never said those words. Thats probably why I 
didnt put them in quotes. When something is in quotes, that 
means that it is a quote. If it is not in quotes, then it is not 
a quote. Got it? Oh, and Polish intelligence? Is that just a

Even if the Americans find the weapons, I don't believe that it 
justifies the war. Wars are not something that should be started 
because of accusations and suspicions. There was never any 
evidence!! You can talk about all the unaccounted materials and 
admissions you want. That was all we were going on. I never saw 
any proof. That is what alot of us war protestors are pissed off 
about.

If the weapons are found, that doesnt explain what Bush 
said: "The only possible explanation, the only possible use he 
could have for those weapons, is to dominate, intimidate or 
attack." I dont remember Saddam using his WMDs against American 
forces when his back was against the wall. Keep in mind that 
Bush said that quote on January 29, 2003. That quote is in the 
present tense.  So bringing up anything about him gassing Kurds 
or the Iraq-Iran war is irrelevant to this context. 

Since he had the weapons (acccording to you and Bush) why didn't 
he use them for domination, intimidation or attacking? Bush said 
that was "The only possible explanation"!!
