As per your last post to me, LIKEWISE Spy. Yep, I thought your 
President gave a great speech. Never, have two simple words had 
such poigniant meaning held within them. He's stepped up to the 
plate admirably, as has New York's former Mayor and our 
Mr.Blair. The people look to their leaders to provide an example 
to follow in times of crisis, and in my opinion, so far, the 
aforementioned have done just that. 

As impressions count for so much, I felt it was incumbant upon 
me to give you and your compatriots in the U.S. at least a 
balanced view of citizens in Britain. As an individual I happen 
to support the U.S, ITS the one that has to get it's hands dirty 
and more often than not trying to solve other people problems 
because they can't or seemingly won't try to solve it 
themselves. I, like you, am bewildered as to why your country 
gets lambasted just for trying to help. I hope this conflict 
will make people in a lot of other nations realise that THEY 
ALSO have to 'step up to the plate', and do their bit to keep

asking us to let it be, and finish all wars.  It was not us who

people...women and children.  How can we do as you say and let

father's due to some terrorist's religious bigotry.  What if, as 
you say we would have let it be in 1941.  Nazis may still be in 
control of Europe, and the fate of the European Jews would have 
been sealed.  If history teaches us anything it is that we must

against Arab Knesset member Azmi Bishara for "making non-
conformist political statements" and "for calling Hizbullah a

The charges followed the lifting last week of Bishara's

BETHLEHEM, West Bank  Walid Abu Srour sat at a makeshift desk 
stacked with shekels Monday as he set up his currency exchange 
shop on a sidewalk of Bethlehem's main street, trying to rebuild 
a business that an earthmover destroyed during Israel's 10 day 
incursion. 

"It is life. It has to be continued," said Abu Srour, 39, as he 
did business on Nativity Street. "This shop is my only income 
that feeds my children."  

Bethlehem residents started putting their lives back together 
after Israeli tanks rumbled out of town late Sunday, ending the 
incursion but leaving a bitter legacy: about 20 families 
mourning their dead, dozens of destroyed shops and homes and 
damage to the university, churches and hospitals. 

Mayor Hanna Nasser put initial damage estimates at $18 million   
a fortune for a town whose main industry of tourism is in ruins. 

"Israeli  mothers,  Palestinian mothers   everybody is 
suffering," Nasser said. "The economy is collapsing." Israeli 
tanks entered Bethlehem and five other West Bank towns after  
Palestinian  militants  gunned down a Cabinet minister on Oct 
17. Israel said the incursions aimed to find those responsible 
and to prevent further attacks on Israelis. 

Biblical Bethlehem was particularly hard hit, and its occupation 
drew stern criticism from the United States and Pope John Paul 
II, who decried the fighting that reached within yards of the 
traditional birthplace of Jesus.

family barely escaped when an earthmover plowed down the grocery

debris from the fallen roof. 

"We are living now at the home of neighbors, waiting for help," 
he said. "I don't have money to rebuild it, but I will not leave 
the place and in the end I will find a way to rebuild." 

Raanan Gissin, an aide to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, said the 
bill for the damages should be sent to the Palestinian 
Authority. 

"Submit it to those who opened fire," Gissin said Monday. "We 
only exercised our right of self-defense."

government not to sign the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. I 
asked the students if they thought it would be permissible, by 
the law of Islam, to use a nuclear bomb during the prosecution 
of a jihad. 

  
"All things come from Allah," one student said. "The atomic bomb 
comes from Allah, so it should be used." I then asked: Who wants 
to see Osama bin Laden armed with nuclear weapons? Every hand in 
the room shot up. The students laughed, and some applauded. 
(notice the reaction turns from happiness to jubiliation at the 
mention of nuclear weapons and the use of nuclear weapons for 
death and destruction. only people who favor death and want 
death, destruction and squalor to rule all over the world would 
react in the above mentioned way)
  
But, I said, innocent people would inevitably die if the bomb 
was used. Even if the West, or Russia, is subjugating Muslims, 
does that give bin Laden and his supporters the right to kill 
innocent people? "Osama has never killed anybody innocent," one 
student, whose name was Ghazi, answered.

            "What if you were shown proof that he did?" 

            "The Americans say they have proof, but they don't 
give it to the Taliban." 

            I then presented a hypothetical scenario. "What if," 
I asked, "you were shown a video in which Osama bin Laden was 
actually seen murdering a woman. What then?" 

            There was a pause. A student named Fazlur Razaq 
stood up: "The Americans have all the tricks of the media. They 
can put Osama's head on the body of someone else, and make it 
seem like he's killing when he's not doing it." 

            I then took from my notebook my secret weapon: the 
1998 fatwa issued by bin Laden's organization -- the 
International Islamic Front for Jihad Against Jews and 
Crusaders -- concerning the presence of American troops in Saudi 
Arabia. I read them a passage, the English translation of which 
reads as follows: "The ruling to kill the Americans and all non 
muslims and their allies -- civilians and military -- is an 
individual duty for every Muslim who can do it in any country in 
which it is possible to do it, in order to liberate the muslims 
and the world  from their grip, and in order for their armies to 
move out of all the lands of Islam, defeated and unable to 
threaten any Muslim." 

  
            Here it is, I said, in black and white: bin Laden 
calling for the death of all non muslims .. Americans, civilian

            "Osama didn't write that," one student yelled, and 
the others cheered. "That's a forgery of the Americans." I asked 
one final question, more out of self-interest than anything 
else: What would you do if you learned that the C.I.A. had 
captured bin Laden and was taking him to America to stand trial? 

  
            A student who gave his name as Muhammad stood 
up: "We would sacrifice our lives for Osama. We would kill 
Americans." 

  What kind of Americans?  

            "All Americans." 

         (Notice that every muslim represents death he would
